For GMTK Game Jam 2025

Please do not expect much from this game! It is very mediocre and I barely put any effort into the graphics. I had a lot of fun making it however, so I'm happy :)

HOW TO PLAY

Read carefully; this game is unintuitive.

CONTROLS: Mouse only

GOAL: Kill the boss (big orange rectangle)

THE PLAYER: Small green rectangle

LOOPS: There are two tape loops. The one in the bottom-left is for movement (drums). The one in the top-right is for attack (melody.)

CLIPS: The colored rectangles with an arrow in them are clips. They represent a direction and a segment of music.

SLOTS: When dragging and dropping clips into loops, lighter spots will appear. These are the slots in which you must put the clips.

PRESSING PLAY: When you press "Play", the battle and the music begin. The clips are played clockwise, starting from the top.

MOVING: Each clip put in the bottom-right loop makes the player move in a direction (look at the arrow on the clip). Dodge attacks using this!

ATTACKING: Each clip put in the top-right loop makes the player shoot an arrow in a direction (look at the arrow on the clip). Kill the boss using this!

EXTRA INFO:

- When you press "Stop", everything gets reset.

- The battle loops infinitely until the player or the boss dies.

- You can modify loops mid-fight. This is a bug that became a feature.

All music clips were made by me using BandLab and Audacity.

The game is named after the sound a sword makes when movie characters draw it... you know the "ktchhhhhiiiiiiiing" sounds it makes? Yeah that's what the name means. I originally planned to give the player a sword but that was too complicated haha
